Our History
The Waiting Room's name gives a nod to the original function of our beautiful historic home- the residence and office to the first permanent physician in the Town of Webb, Dr. Stuart Nelson.
Serving the community for over 70 years, Nelson's practice extended from Northern Herkimer County to White Lake to Long Lake, where he often traveled to by horse & carriage, railroad, boat, or on foot & snowshoe to serve his patients.

Nelson originally occupied the building that is now Montezuma Winery located next door. Construction began on our building in 1902 and was completed five years later in 1907. After relocating his residence and practice into the new building, the original home next door was utilized as a birthing center for expecting mothers to temporarily reside until delivering, assuring close proximity to Dr. Nelson.
Dr. Nelson continued to practice medicine throughout the remainder of his life. There is a permanent exhibit located at the Goodsell Museum in town devoted to his practice, with complete records of the children he delivered throughout his local career. A link to more information from the Goodsell Museum can be found here.
Since Nelson, our home has been residence to several business, including Rivet Insurance & Real Estate, The Adirondack Express, Sisters Bistro, as well as our own career in the building, where we started as Misters Bistro in 2018. In the post-COVID spring of 2021, we made the difficult and exciting decision to rebrand and focus our resources on the area of the business where our passion and interests were the strongest; the craft cocktail & beverage industry.

Today, The Waiting Room is intended to be a safe place for individuals from all walks of life to gather, enjoy hand crafted cocktails, beverages, games and the company of friends, without fear of judgement or discrimination.
We are proud to be a place of connection for our community to come together in a social and convivial atmosphere that provides retreat from the chaos of daily life and challenges.
